The floating boat villa has a unique charm, making for a memorable stay with tranquil views. Enjoying the jacuzzi after a long day was a nice touch, albeit not functioning properly during my visit.
Check-in took over an hour due to our room not being cleaned for ages, and even after three days, the cleanliness left much to be desired. Significant issues persisted with moldy bathroom walls, an old shower, and a dirty jacuzzi that nobody addressed. the overall upkeep of the property felt neglected, including rusty sanitary ware and cobwebs in the chalet. Little details like missing slippers and shabby bathrobes didn't help the experience, and delays in transportation were frustrating when relying on their boat service.

Breathtaking views and nature walks
Kalundewa Retreat is a hidden gem in Dambulla, showcasing stunning natural beauty. The accommodation is thoughtfully designed with architecture blending harmoniously into the landscape, and the staff's friendliness is genuinely refreshing. Cycling through the lush paddy fields was an unforgettable experience, while the local cuisine, especially the garden-fresh Sri Lankan dishes, was a delightful highlight. I often found myself in awe of the tranquil atmosphere and abundant wildlife surrounding the property.
Certain aspects of the retreat could benefit from attention. the room cleanliness was inconsistent, and I noticed that some furnishings needed some maintenance. I experienced delays with the buggy service, which could be inconvenient when wanting to explore the expansive grounds more promptly. It would be great if the hotel could enhance their food and drinks menu, as not all items were available during my stay.
